Tonight, Eckstein goes 3-for-4 to raise his average to a whopping .226, and Isringhausen allows one run in the ninth en route to the Cardinals claiming a surprising 8-4 victory over the Dodgers, scoring all eight runs in the first three innings. This hikes the Birds to 16-20 and "drops" the Dodgers to 23-16. Means absolutely zippo, but for some confounded reason, I keep hoping that each win, as few and far between as they may be, will be the one that finally rights the ship. Yes, I've already written their epitaph, but it's that bloody optimism that keeps coming back....
Le sigh. Now they'll probably lose badly tomorrow just to prove a point to me.
